We’re working on the Terran Federation for Covenant! Find out more below the fold.

Here’s what we want to talk about this week:

  • The Terran Federation
  • How to become a playtester

THE OLD EMPIRE

We’ve started taking notes on the Old Empire! The Old Empire is another domain in Covenant, and we hope eventually to write a summary for it like we did for the Terran Federation last week, complete with politics, foreign policy, demographics, culture, and everything.

The Old Empire is an old rival with the Covenant. Their ancestors left the calerre homeworld of Cadelle about 120,000 years ago. After forming a number of different alliances and empires, they founded the Old Empire about 10,000 years ago.

The Old Empire is just that: an empire. It’s headed by a semidivine emperor whose power is balanced by a number of noble houses and a weak but popular parliament.

The Old Empire is a rival of the Covenant. Their ancestors were conservative calerre who opposed the Covenant on Cadelle. The two have had some hot wars in the last 10,000 years, interspersed with long cold wars and periods of peace.

The Old Empire was partly responsible for the secession of the Terran Federation from the Covenant. It was a major blow to the Covenant. However, it wound up burning the Old Empire, too. They tried to annex the Terran Federation, but this kicked off a costly war between the two. Since then, the Old Empire and Terran Federation have either been in a state of hot or cold war with each other.

We have notes on the Old Empire’s history and military, and we’ll be working on other details this weekend. Come back here Friday for updates.

BECOMING A PLAYTESTER

Have you downloaded Covenant’s playtest rules yet? Did we mention that they’re free? If not, do it now! They’re free! All we ask is that you tell us what you think about them. You can send your feedback in two ways:

That’s about it for now. Talk to you next Friday!
