Author's Diary - Update for the Week of April 2, 2022

Hey, look at that. Two whole blog posts in two weeks. More below the fold.

Here’s what we want to talk about this week:

  • The results of our last playtesting session
  • The valka Matriarchy
  • How to become a playtester

PLAYTESTING

The damn thing worked.

We had four PCs engage four slavers on Saturday with attacks, skills, and abilities, and the system held up with shining colors. The biggest problem was deciding who would reveal their bids first, the players or the Force Majeure, but we decided on having both reveal their bids at the same time.

Anyway, the game system held up under its first big test, which has taken a load off of Sean’s shoulders, and now we’re in the part of the game where we don’t have to improv everything. The PCs found the slaves, but they also stirred the hornet’s nest when they crashed into the slaver base last Saturday. Let’s see if they can get out alive tomorrow.

MATRIARCHY

We’ve started writing up the Matriarchy’s domain summary from the transcripts that we got last week. They’re all over the place – Sazzy and Sean didn’t have any real outline or structure when they were talking about the Matriarchy – so we’ve written up everything from their technology to their foreign policy with the Covenant to the events of 1999 CE, which wiped away much of their technology and science.

We’ll continue to write it up this weekend and next week. Hopefully we’ll get the Matriarchy done faster than we did the Archimedean Confederation. Once we’re done, we’ll make it available to our patrons (which is another reason you should support us on Patreon).

BECOMING A PLAYTESTER

Have you downloaded Covenant’s playtest rules yet? Did we mention that they’re free? If not, do it now! They’re free! All we ask is that you tell us what you think about them. You can send your feedback in two ways:
