We’re back again! Hopefully for good this time. We have news about Covenant below the fold.
Here’s what we want to talk about this week:
- The results of our last two playtesting sessions
- The Archimedean Confederation
- How to become a playtester
PLAYTESTING
The PCs have finally made it to the slaver base! It’s been a long time coming. Frankly, Sean thought that they would attack the slavers by the second session at the very most. He’s lost count of the sessions by now, and we’ve picked up more players and more characters than we ever thought we’d ever have.
And we’re finally coming to the end of it.
Anyway, the recap. The PCs hired every single trained merc in Sanesse, then bundled them into three different ships and flew to the slaver base. One of those mercs, a bounty hunter named Echkardt Owain, said he had a way to mask the sensor signature of one ship, so everyone piled into Sazzy’s ship the New Orleans.
The players really wanted to make it epic. One PC flew off in a “magitech” ship to engage a slaver ship off-camera (they said their participation would be limited, and so the FM allowed them to write up a cool cutscene). Sazzy took the New Orleans down, screamed over the surface of the moon that the slaver base was on, grabbed a pillar of rock to make a tight turn with the ship’s grapples, then broke off the rock and threw it at the slaver base, impaling one of its buildings.
That’s the nice thing about Covenant’s system and the narrative playing style that we’re using. It allows the players to be Big Damn Heroes, even if it doesn’t quite align with what the FM wants.
Anyway, we ended the game with the PCs piling off the New Orleans to engage the slavers. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.
VALKA MATRIARCHY
We are almost ready to start writing up the valka Matriarchy! Sean interviewed Sazzy about the valka four times in the past year, and we got the transcripts of those interviews yesterday. We’ll be reviewing them over the weekend so that we can start writing up a domain summary of the Matriarchy on Monday. Stay tuned here for updates.
