It’s a new week and a new bid in the bids appendix! See how you can use the Chasing bid for short races and chases in Covenant below the fold.
Race: Catch another character or beat her to a destination. Used for very short chases that can be resolved with a single bid.
- To Accomplish:
- Opposed Chasing bid vs. opponent’s Chasing, Athletics, Piloting, or Riding bid
- Can be used for races:
- Under the character’s own power (EXAMPLE: on foot or flying)
- While riding a mount
- While piloting a vehicle
- Successful Bid:
- The character catches xir opponent.
- The character beats xir opponent to the destination.
- Unsuccessful Bid:
- The character’s opponent evades the character.
- The character’s opponent beats the character to the destination.
- Suggested Traits: Athletics, Agility, Chasing, Evasion, Movement, Piloting, Riding, Tactics, Trickery
- Suggested Advantages:
- The character is faster than xir opponent.
- The character is closer to the destination than xir opponent.
- The character’s opponent is being attacked or is under fire.
- The character or xir allies try to stop xir opponent.
- The character is familiar with the terrain where the chase takes place.
- The character’s body is designed for the terrain where the chase takes place (EXAMPLE: a spider monkey swinging through a jungle’s canopy).
- Suggested Disadvantages:
- The character is slower than xir opponent.
- The character is farther from the destination than xir opponent.
- The character is being attacked or is under fire.
- The character’s opponent or xir allies try to stop the character.
- The character has injured or lost the use of xir arms or legs.
- The character’s movement is restricted (EXAMPLE: by a net, shackles, rope, handcuffs, or another character).
- The character is overburdened.
